Membranes for Filtration
Membranes, the central element of membrane filters,
come in different shapes: flat sheet rolls, tubes, capillaries/hollow fibers - filtration ratings: micro, ultra, nano filtration, R.O. (reverse osmosis),
selective gas separation - materials: polymers (polysulfone, polyethersulfone ,
PTFE, polypropylene, polyamide, cellulose based, ceramics).
Polymer membranes can be manufactured by casting (polymer/solvent) and coagulation, nuclear track etching, or
mechanical stretching (expanded PTFE).
